CRUNCH TIME: Quaker Rice Crisps Taste Test & REVIEW! SUPERCHEF VS SUPERMARKET

Sep 2, 2025 · 6:13

Summary

Darnell's bringing back a childhood snack nobody asked for. Quaker Rice Crisps are making a comeback, and he's breaking down whether these thin, crunchy puffed rice discs actually deserve shelf space in your pantry. The apple cinnamon flavor hits sweet, real sweet, and Darnell's got mixed feelings about it. He praises the texture and the price point at under six bucks for ten servings, but that added sugar kicks things down from an A to a C plus real quick. Kids will demolish these, he says. Adults though? That's where it gets honest.

All right

So, today, Super Shver Supermarket

We're going to go We Everything old becomes new again

Remember back in the day, everybody used to eat the little rice cakes and it came back in style

So, let's try these out

Let's see if if Quaker get into this uh rice crisp is what they

call them

See how they taste

Apples

Make healthy snacks for your kids and you

Let's just go ahead and try them out in the kitchen. [Music] All right

So, we are back in the kitchen with Quakers

OG Quakers

You know what I'm saying? We made them

growing up

I mean, I don't think Quaker I ain't had Quakers in a long time

Um, but we got the apple cinnamon rice crisp

See, I got this because we all grew with rice cakes and we hated them

But when we did like them, they added cinnamon oil

You know what I'm saying? So, I want to see if they elevated

They

got better

You know what I'm saying? I'm trying to find snacks for people that's healthy

That's that's kind of like what we've been doing right now is trying to find some snacks that can help people in the life side of trying to choose cuz people are getting smarter about what they eat

Um, so let's see.

All right

I like Quaker

What I've never noticed does Quaker talk their stuff on their products

Talking your stuff is where they brag on the bag

See what they say? Gluten-free

All my gluten-free people

Um, 11 g of whole grains

Whole grains are very important for your diet

No artificial flavors.

That's key

So, okay, they brag a little bit

I didn't know they brag that much

Um, yeah, good stuff

Okay, good start for Kellog for Quakers

I'm going call them Kelloggs for Quakers

Uh, let's go ahead and open this back

I'm going to get straight to cuz this goes this old school I know what they call them

Rice

crisp now cuz they are not like the rice cakes

Those rice cakes are a little bit different than these ones are

Um, smaller uh thinner rice cakes used to be thick

Boy, was they thick

They rice cakes used rice crisp used to have BBLs back in the day

Now they they skinny mini and they pin

I kind of like what I

prefer

But uh that's a whole another conversation

Back to the rice crisp

Um let's go

Got some new taste

Knock it out

I already got it in my hand

Why not? [Music] I mean they good

I mean taste texture wise they taste exactly they they feel

exactly like they used to

You know, they're crunchy, but they kind of like just fall apart when they in your mouth

It just dissolves a little bit as they do because they're puffed up like rice is so rice

So, it's easy for them to like melt away

Um, super crispy, crunchy

I love that about it.

Um, heavy in the cinnamon and sugar

Um, I'm usually not a big fan anymore, even though I'm a sweet person

Anybody know me know I want to eat dessert first

Um, but the older I get and when I'm getting older, we all going to get older

If you stop getting older, then something happens

Um, so let's let's normalize

getting older is a positive

And let's stop making it like I'm getting old

Like that's the point of life

But back to this

The older I get, the more I want people to stop trying to trick me with making things sweet because something sweet will make you think it's good

You know, sugar is one of the

biggest addictions in the world

So something sweet will automatically make you think it tastes good

And that is what this is doing to me because I mean it's sweet

I wouldn't expect them to make it this sweet, but it is good

It's delicious

Kids would love these

Be very clear

There ain't a kid I know

that wouldn't try these and like them

Adults

Um I think you'll like them, too

Texture- wise, they're great

H not a hint of flavor

It punch through a flavor

Bam

Bam

Cinnamon all over this bad boy

It's like a good bag of gripples

You turn upside down, get to the bottom of the bag

That's how this

was

Um, so when it comes to flavor and taste, I'm gonna give it I mean it's a B

It's better than it used to be when I grew up

I can't give it a A cuz I wouldn't come back to this

In order to get a A

I got to desire it

This, if I eat it, I would be okay

I would I would like, okay, I like these

I can I can do

this

Um, they're not going to blow your socks away

They're rice crisp, so don't take my grading

It's like, oh, he said they're the best thing

He gave it a B

It's a B because it was better than it was when I was growing up and didn't want to eat them

But I like them

So, kudos to Quakers

Um, these been around

for a long time now

Most people have had these

Um, when it comes to price, $5.99

Yes, $5.99

The bag is about 10 oz almost

So, you get a lot as far as serving goes

You get 10 servings in this bag. 10 servings for six $6 is good price.

Price A+

And then when it comes to nutrition, 110 calories, you need calories

Stop running away from everything that's calories

You just don't need bad calories, but you need calories, people

Um, it's a A

I mean, oh, I see a red flag

It was good

Zero cholesterol, zero sodium

Carbohydrates

was a nine

Actually, sodium was a three. 75 milligrams is good enough

No complaints there

Total flat

Total fat 1% of your daily value right there

But added sugar 16% of your daily volume

That's why it was so sweet

Uh now it goes from an A and you see it trinkling.

Like if if Evan can do I don't know how good Ev about to be

If you can do a a graph of a A to a F here like A here B C D no E's but a F

It was at a A and now because at 16% you goes right down to a C plus because we need to stay away from sugars especially added sugars

They have no value in this at all

I feel

like it could have went more natural with that sweetener on there

But man, who am I to tell these people what to do? They billion dollar company

They ain't listening to me

But when it comes to you, I'm here for you

I'm not here for companies

I'm here for the people to break down this thing

And yeah, C

for nutrition because of the added sugars

I stay away from added sugars

So overall, great product

I would definitely say this is Super Chef approved for you at home

Um, if you eat these, let this be the the sugar content for your day outside of natural sugars for the rest of the day
